First-book covers of six Katee Robert series, from Neon Gods to A Forbidden Hunger, on garnet cloth

The Tarot Trials comes out today, October 20, 2026, so here are Katee Robert books in order for the series we picked: the ones with a mythic, monster, vampire or secondary-world setting, numbered the way the author numbers them. Read each series on its own: Dark Olympus (finished, Neon Gods first), A Deal with a Demon, Bloodline Vampires, Crimson Sails, then The Tarot Trials #1, with The Bluebeard Chronicles #1 due February 16, 2027 on the author's page.

Katee Robert (they/she) lists more than 20 series on their site, from Bad Boy Homecoming to Wicked Villains. This guide skips the ones without a fantasy, paranormal or monster hook, and keeps the author's own category label for each book.

Katee Robert books in order, with release dates

Dates are US release dates from each book's page on kateerobert.com, with one correction noted below. The self-published books have no publisher page to check against, so their dates are per the author's page; where Goodreads disagrees on one we use, we say so. The category in brackets is the author's label, not ours.

Dark Olympus (Sourcebooks Casablanca, "Dark Romance", finished)

  1. Neon Gods (June 1, 2021): Hades and Persephone. Start here.
  2. Electric Idol (January 18, 2022): Eros and Psyche. The author's page still says January 4; Penguin's listing for the Sourcebooks Casablanca paperback and Goodreads both say January 18, so we go with that.
  3. Wicked Beauty (June 7, 2022): Helen and Achilles.
  4. Radiant Sin (February 7, 2023): Apollo and Cassandra.
  5. Cruel Seduction (August 8, 2023): Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Adonis and Pandora.
  6. Midnight Ruin (January 16, 2024): Charon, Orpheus and Eurydice.
  7. Dark Restraint (August 6, 2024): Ariadne and the Minotaur.
  8. Sweet Obsession (April 1, 2025): Poseidon and Icarus.
  9. Tender Cruelty (December 2, 2025): Zeus and Hera.
  10. Shattered Gods (June 2, 2026): Hermes, Circe and Atalanta. The author's homepage calls it "The final sizzling chapter".

Extras: Stone Heart (#0.5, March 1, 2022, self-published, filed as "Monster Romance"), Medusa and Calypso in the same city of Olympus; and Dark Olympus Shorts Vol. 1 (July 15, 2023, self-published, unnumbered). Our rule: the author's number when there is one, the release date when there isn't. So Stone Heart can go first, since it has its own couple, and the shorts go between books 4 and 5, where they came out.

A Deal with a Demon (self-published, "Monster Romance")

  1. The Dragon's Bride (March 29, 2022): Sol and Briar.
  2. The Kraken's Sacrifice (October 11, 2022): Thane and Catalina.
  3. The Gargoyle's Captive (March 28, 2023): Brom and Grace.
  4. The Succubus's Prize (March 18, 2024, per the author's page): Belladonna and Rusalka. Goodreads says first published April 17, 2024; either way it lands between #3 and #6.
  5. The Demon's Bargain (October 4, 2022): Ramanu and Lenora. Yes, 2022. See the trap below.
  6. The Demon's Queen (October 22, 2024): Eve and Azazel.

Bloodline Vampires (self-published, "Paranormal Romance")

  1. Sacrifice (September 25, 2020). The author's own tags end in "cliffhanger", so have book 2 ready.
  2. Heir (February 15, 2021). Also tagged "cliffhanger".
  3. Queen (December 31, 2021).

Court of the Vampire Queen (September 6, 2022) sits on the series page as "BLOODLINE VAMPIRES TRILOGY". Pick it up instead of the three if you'd rather hold one book.

Crimson Sails (Berkley, "Fantasy Romance", finished)

  1. Hunt on Dark Waters (November 7, 2023): Bowen and Evelyn.
  2. Blood on the Tide (May 14, 2024): Lizzie and Maeve.
  3. Rebel in the Deep (May 20, 2025): Nox, Siobhan and Bastian, the "conclusion to the Crimson Sails trilogy".

The Tarot Trials (Tor, "Fantasy")

  1. The Tarot Trials (October 20, 2026; 400-page Tor hardcover). Book 2 has no date.

The Bluebeard Chronicles (self-published, "Fantasy")

  1. A Forbidden Hunger (February 16, 2027, per the author's page), marked "COMING SOON", with a "fae-adjacent heroine". Goodreads lists a later date, April 6, 2027.

Two more single books. To Kidnap a Princess (December 1, 2023, "Fantasy Romance") is numbered DANGEROUS TIDES #4, and it's the only Dangerous Tides book on the author's site. Siren's Curse (August 13, 2018, Amazon Publishing, "Sci-Fi / Fantasy") is THE SEA KING'S DAUGHTERS #3, also the only book listed for its series: a cursed mermaid who has lost her powers, hunted from the sea. Neither page points to an earlier book, so treat both as standalones.

The one trap: book 5 came out second

The Demon's Bargain is A Deal with a Demon #5 on the author's series page. It came out October 4, 2022, seven days before #2, The Kraken's Sacrifice. By date, it's the second book in the series. By number, it's the fifth.

Chart of A Deal with a Demon books by number against release date, with book 5 released in October 2022, before books 2, 3 and 4 Image: FaeShelf chart, from the six book pages on kateerobert.com

We side with the number. It's the author's own, and it's the only order the series page gives. Each book has its own couple on the author's pages, so reading by date shouldn't strand you mid-romance, but nothing on the author's site suggests reading #5 second either. Stone Heart pulls the same move in Dark Olympus on a smaller scale: numbered 0.5 but out March 1, 2022, six weeks after Electric Idol.

One reader complaint about this series has nothing to do with order. In a 450-point r/RomanceBooks thread showing off the series art (March 3, 2026), an 8-point reply said "the books are so short", while a 54-point reply was sold on the spot: "Okay, damn, The Succubus's Prize just went to the top of my TBR".

The Tarot Trials: "Not a romance," says the author

Two official pages disagree. On Katee Robert's own book page, the tags for The Tarot Trials open with "Not a romance", and the category reads "Fantasy". Macmillan's tour page for the same book invites readers to discuss "her latest fantasy romance novel".

We side with the author, since it's their tag and the more specific one. The same page lists "enemies to lovers" as a trope and "explicit sex" in the content notes, so there's heat, but go in expecting a death tournament first. Publishers Weekly called it a "strong fantasy debut" and noted "room left open for a sequel". On Goodreads, it sat at 3.88 from 542 ratings the day before release (October 19, 2026).

On our spice scale, The Tarot Trials is a 3 (Open door), from Katee Robert's note listing "explicit sex". Its book page carries the rest of what we've sourced.

Countdown: A Forbidden Hunger, due February 16, 2027

Per the author's page, the next new series starts 119 days after The Tarot Trials. Goodreads has April 6, 2027 for the Kindle edition, so the two don't agree yet; we'd go by the author's page and check it again in the new year. A Forbidden Hunger is self-published, filed under "Fantasy", and its content notes list "Explicit sex" along with "Dubious consent (in a sex pollen kind of way)". Nothing to reread first: it's a new book 1.

Is Dark Olympus worth all ten?

Readers split on where it peaks. Under a July 10, 2026 r/RomanceBooks post of the series art, the top comment went straight at it:

That's 106 points, and four of the next nine highest-voted comments agree. One 4-point reply put the drop at Helen's book, which is Wicked Beauty, book 3: "Man I liked the first... maybe 3 books of this series." In a June 2025 r/fantasyromance thread asking how people felt about the series, a 3-point comment drew a similar line, then a lower one: "I really, really liked the first 3, books 4-6 were fine, and I absolutely hated 7."

The other side is quieter but specific. In the same June thread, another commenter said "Neon Gods is okay, but I loved the crap out of Electric Idol and Midnight Ruin." (3 points). A month later, in July 2025, a reader who'd just finished book 8 wrote in their own r/fantasyromance post, "Loved this whole series, but this one in particular made me cry" (15 points). Scores on that side are small, so weigh them that way.

On heat, the author's notes list "explicit sex" for seven of the ten numbered books. Wicked Beauty, Dark Restraint and Tender Cruelty don't use the phrase. That doesn't make those three tamer, and we'd rather not guess a number for them.

Our take

Start with Neon Gods if you want the series their bio leads with; it's book 1 of a finished ten. If it isn't working by book 3, you're not alone: one reader above said their liking ran out around book 3, at Helen's book, and another loved the first three but hated book 7. Start with The Dragon's Bride if you came for monsters, and read A Deal with a Demon by number, not date. Pick The Tarot Trials if you want a tournament plot with heat on the side. Skip it if you want romance as the main event, because the author's own tag says it isn't one.
