Fae (also fay or faerie) are the fairies of European folklore: mythical, often magical beings rather than humans. A Court of Thorns and Roses, the book that made romantasy huge on BookTok, places its heroine in a world of violence and magical creatures.
For new readers
When a blurb says fae, expect immortal or magical beings and court politics, not tiny winged sprites.
